Open Days

Meet the team

Open Days are a great chance to learn more about the Nature Reserve and meet those involved.

The Steeple Woodland Nature Reserve holds its annual Open Day each September and it's an ideal opportunity for the local community to come along to find out all about what's going on at the Nature Reserve.

Over the years the Open Day has been held, lots of people have attended and enjoyed the afternoon event.

There is always live music performed by local musicians, sometimes semi-professional and sometimes local youngsters.

There are also refreshments and different activities for children such as forest school and green woodworking. Greeting cards, calendars and prints are sold at the event, all the profits from the sales go towards the ongoing work at Nature Reserve.

St Ives tree surgeon and expert Mark Nankervis is always in attendance to lead a group of people around the Nature Reserve. He talks about the evolution and history of the site over the years and how the site is being kept and maintained. The condition and welfare of the mature woodland part of the Nature Reserve is also discussed, The tour ends at the top of Worvas Hill at Knill’s monument to enjoy the panoramic views.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the date of the next Open Day.
