Goodbye 2021

Not many would argue that 2021 wasn't an unusual and difficult year. It had its lows (no need to mention those) and highs (celebrating the 5-yearly Knill's Ceremony and the G7 summit to name two).

One constant for the Reserve's volunteers has been the positive power of nature and community.

The Wednesday work parties (meet at 09.30 by the main gate, rain or shine) have been a great way to connect with like-minded people and get some physical exercise (and coffee and cake).

The mental and physical health benefits of working outdoors and contributing to a common goal have been clear to all over the last year.

That's especially true when the views around the Reserve are something that we never tire of. Regularly weekly visits really highlight the changes as the seasons come and go over the year.

So, as we look forward to a (hopefully) better 2022, we can be sure that there will be plenty of bracken to slash, gorse to prune, paths to clear and trees to plant (and cake to eat).

All the best from the volunteers for 2022, perhaps we'll see you by the gate one Wednesday?

Why should I volunteer?

If you're looking for a way to give back to your community, volunteering is a great option.
